One Planet News: Wildlife publication evolves
Why One Planet News is changing
One Planet News has been a successful and, I think, much-needed publishing venture, and it has been a privilege to bring wildlife news to the fore on this platform, but change is needed.
When I first set up One Planet News, it was to highlight scientific news about wildlife, environmental news and climate change. As a journalist, I wanted to write news stories to help create awareness of the natural world as it happened.
But I have been toying with the idea of revealing a more personal journey within this newsletter, and I believe that by aligning this publication across social media platforms, I will be able to extend its reach.
Go Wild With Annette will replace One Planet News and enable me to share the wonders of nature from a more personal viewpoint. It will be about me and nature, sharing my joys and concerns and bringing the natural world to life.
Why change?
My decision is partly due to health issues. The aim, alongside this publication, was to film a wildlife documentary, travelling around the British Isles filming nature and talking to experts about nature concerns. Currently, this is not possible, so I am having to adapt.
I am not turning my back on nature protection, I am embarking upon a personal venture to rewild my garden and recording my progress, through video and in a book. This is a huge task but will be a wonderful transition, helping nature but bringing joy to me. Nature is for all of us, whether we can travel further afield or set our intent to do more for nature at home.
The natural world is vitally important, and I know many people are desperate to do more to protect nature.
So, what can you expect from this new look publication?
I will share my successes and failures with you. Expect photos and videos, and of course, written content. I will include some scientific nature news, but also reveal the many environmental and wildlife success stories. We all need hope in life, and we need to connect with nature.
Wild Insights (paid subscription) will continue; it is just the style of content that will change.
I hope you will stay with me for the next stage of my nature journey and share your own stories of the natural world.
