Blackbird numbers are plummeting. In just one year, the numbers of blackbirds in London dropped by 50%. The species is succumbing to a mosquito-borne disease from South Africa and to protect them, it is important to establish where blackbirds are most affected.
The British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) need people to help in its survey identifying blackbird numbers because only by understanding the extent of the problem can this popular garden bird be saved.
The BTO would like people to keep watch on blackbirds in their garden and to report their findings. Watch the video for more information and click on the link to sign up.
